i'm finding a lot more often this unescapable inner desire to be a child again. to run through fields and forests and escape this reality, this depraved land. i would run, my feet making imprints in the dirt, marking my presence, moving rapidly, faster, and faster. without the heaviness of loss, without the pain of divisiveness, without the sorrow of neglect and exclusion. i would run as my heart is made whole, and i would crawl through that doorway in the clouds and enter into a place of serenity, peace, beauty.
with confusion in my mind comes hope in my heart. we are not a perfect people, but grace covers us generously.
